Salonus Papyrus gives Headbones the opportunity to invite artists from afar to join us once again with work from Germany, France, Italy,Mexico, Iran, Serbia, El Salvador,New York, Iowa, Toronto, Montrealand even Saskatchewan will insert a visual flare.
When Headbones Gallery was in Toronto from 2005-2010, it would do a summer cross country exhibition of works on paper wrapping up with an exhibition atAshpa Naira Gallery once in the valley. For Salonus Papyrus,Headbones will be airing some of the contents of the flat files, the famous “Drawers”, bringing out works that were too large to be shown during the cross country tours of the past.
The Okanagan will be refreshed with new paper works and will feature a paper wall installation by Angelica Jaeger. All in all, over 50 artists’ works will have a presence in this exhibition of diversity and excellence.
Hosting a paper salon, Salonus Papyrus, is akin to a celebration in the art world. It means the walls are laden with works on paper and on the delicate surfaces we find the more intimate offerings of artists. Whether it is a detailed pencil work or a gestural expression, paper-works beg closeness.
