Over the Christmas holiday, I had the great fortune to do a mini residency at the Caetani Cultural Centre's new Port studio that opened this past year.
The space is newly renovated with bright white walls, spots lights and tons of room! Which I took full advantage of during my stay.
I came into the space knowing that I was going to rework some old large pieces on paper that I had recently cut up.
I had made these pieces many years ago. They were meditations on logos, exploring and playing with their recognition factor.
So I began my residency by laying those pieces out to look at them and see how I might rework them.
I had also brought some ink with me - a medium I hadn't used in a long time! After a little re-introduction to it and getting back into thinking in black and white, some interesting things started to happen.
From here it was a process of bouncing back and forth between the smaller black and white pieces and the larger paper collages. Here's the end result.
