At the beginning of September I had the pleasure of digging out some work for exhibition that had not been seen since its last showing at Headbones Gallery.
I had been invited by two friends and fellow artists to exhibit my work in a new studio that they had created in Armstrong, BC. Curriebird Studios is an artist-run ART + YOGA Studio created by art and spirit maven Cate Currie, along gal pal and Pussy Posse leader Kate Fagervik. Its a space that celebrates art, yoga, spirit and the feminine in equal measures.
With these features of the space in mind, our 3 she-brains titled the show:
This suite of 30 panels came about through a residency I did in at the Banff Centre in Banff National Park where each piece was a meditation on the Bow River which runs through the middle of the town.
The install began with the two Kates rifling through what I had brought with great glee.
From here we let our artist eyes create a visual composition with the panels and let them drift across the space.
Doing this show with Cate and Kate was a bit of a dream come true. I'd been watching their progress with the studio for months and am thrilled to be the first artist they invited to show in their space.
So it was extra fitting to gift these two long time supporters and lovers of my work with some Katie Brennan originals of their own!
The show is up until October 31st at Curriebird Studios in Armstrong BC - 2505 Pleasant Valley Blvd.
