Batik is a small body of work of gouache pieces on canvas.  I call these pieces "Batik" as they were achieved using a similar method to the traditional technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, which learned the basics of back in elementary school. Instead of wax however I used masking fluid, which is a material somewhat similar to rubber cement. The masking fluid is a bit tricky to work with and dries super fast! The simplified line work reminds me a bit of design work from the 1960's - thick, bold outlines in a hand drawn style.
